Film Trailer

This is my film trailer that i have created i wanted to use music with no sound because i believe it creates a deeper effect from the trailers i have seen a viewed for example "The Shining" it isn't like my first inishal idea but as i was running out of time and focused more on my music video the deadline for this became shorter and shorter. I felt i could have done a better job but i still believe that this has the elements of a horror trailer and still believe that it has all key components to draw in an audience.

Understanding The Media: Trailer Research

I have been looking at film trailers that are linked with horror, I believe that horror is something that i could complete easily and that i could use well by doing different styles of music. Most of the Trailers bellow are linked to What i am going to produce, I want to make my trailer dark and mysterious,

The first Trailer is The Shining, this something i really enjoy as it sets the mood really well and it does not give anything away but it lures you in to watch it, I would really like to create mine as scary as this Trailer because there is no sound except of the music and it creates a deeper impact on the visual,

The second Trailer i am about to show is one that has really interest me is the red dragon trailer, its really good and creepy it sets off with an introduction with the characters then all the sounds are linked to set the scene, then the tension builds up with a conversation with Hannibal one of the main lead people then they linked words to images and then used quick cuts. As the trailer came to a conclusion the cuts get faster and faster until its ended to black then a scary end shot of hannibal.

Sound is an important factor as it sets the mood and as the the trailer starts it should be low dimmed and then build and build and build this happens for most trailers because the start is the introduction then then follows to the plot and then the build up in music gets louder as the images get faster or more disturbing, one trailer that i have viewed that i feel does this with sound is inception, the trailer it self lures you in but i feel because of the music it creates a better affect.

Understanding the media Unit Two: Alex Day - Sicily (Richard Warner)

Before my film was a bad edit and i sat down with my tutor and had a talk about how i can improve and adapt to what i have done already, so i went back to the edit and i have created a different story within the film.

The shots are of the girl wondering around the town, walking towards a destination altho you don't know the destination you see clips of her in the past when she thinks back to what happened, (These scenes are of her death and how she dies) then after a wile you see the full scene of her death, notice how when she's not wearing a big coat in any of the flash back scenes and then as soon as she dies she has one on, this was on purpose, i wanted to show the audience that when you die your cloaked from the world and your just a ghost or a memory of that person, this is why she has this on and that is why you wont see her in the mirror.

I believe that this edit is much better than my original and that it does work together better with the music but also storyline, i hope you enjoy and also comment below what you think,

Understanding the media Unit Two

I see my music video to be more like these

I use this example because of the depressing images and also because of distortion in the colour its very similar to mine, and there are many music videos that use this technique
