Film Trailer

This is my film trailer that i have created i wanted to use music with no sound because i believe it creates a deeper effect from the trailers i have seen a viewed for example "The Shining" it isn't like my first inishal idea but as i was running out of time and focused more on my music video the deadline for this became shorter and shorter. I felt i could have done a better job but i still believe that this has the elements of a horror trailer and still believe that it has all key components to draw in an audience.

Understanding The Media: Trailer Research

I have been looking at film trailers that are linked with horror, I believe that horror is something that i could complete easily and that i could use well by doing different styles of music. Most of the Trailers bellow are linked to What i am going to produce, I want to make my trailer dark and mysterious,

The first Trailer is The Shining, this something i really enjoy as it sets the mood really well and it does not give anything away but it lures you in to watch it, I would really like to create mine as scary as this Trailer because there is no sound except of the music and it creates a deeper impact on the visual,

The second Trailer i am about to show is one that has really interest me is the red dragon trailer, its really good and creepy it sets off with an introduction with the characters then all the sounds are linked to set the scene, then the tension builds up with a conversation with Hannibal one of the main lead people then they linked words to images and then used quick cuts. As the trailer came to a conclusion the cuts get faster and faster until its ended to black then a scary end shot of hannibal.

Sound is an important factor as it sets the mood and as the the trailer starts it should be low dimmed and then build and build and build this happens for most trailers because the start is the introduction then then follows to the plot and then the build up in music gets louder as the images get faster or more disturbing, one trailer that i have viewed that i feel does this with sound is inception, the trailer it self lures you in but i feel because of the music it creates a better affect.

Understanding the media Unit Two: Alex Day - Sicily (Richard Warner)

Before my film was a bad edit and i sat down with my tutor and had a talk about how i can improve and adapt to what i have done already, so i went back to the edit and i have created a different story within the film.

The shots are of the girl wondering around the town, walking towards a destination altho you don't know the destination you see clips of her in the past when she thinks back to what happened, (These scenes are of her death and how she dies) then after a wile you see the full scene of her death, notice how when she's not wearing a big coat in any of the flash back scenes and then as soon as she dies she has one on, this was on purpose, i wanted to show the audience that when you die your cloaked from the world and your just a ghost or a memory of that person, this is why she has this on and that is why you wont see her in the mirror.

I believe that this edit is much better than my original and that it does work together better with the music but also storyline, i hope you enjoy and also comment below what you think,

Understanding the media Unit Two

I see my music video to be more like these

I use this example because of the depressing images and also because of distortion in the colour its very similar to mine, and there are many music videos that use this technique

Understanding the media Unit Two: Alex Day - Sicily (Richard Warner Director) Bad Edit

This was my first edit attempt, after looking back this didn't make scene to and audience and i was very biased about my work, i also have edited and above in my blog you can see this change and how i have changed the story,

Understanding The Media Two, Research

Research,
For my music video I wanted to develop a fast pace style that connect to words in the song. I watched something similar in a song called (The All American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret) They used a style of giving people some paper and to write there own personal secrete, its filmed so you can only see the card and the persons face is blurred or out of shot. I like the concept of this because through out the music video you constantly watching the film trying to read other people secretes this could be just human nature to be nosy and to want to know other people little secrets, I found this to be very affective.

So if I use a similar style with words it would make people watch and concentrate on the film more so time should go faster and the video would end before they new it, this might draw my audience to watch it again and make it become more popular.

History,
One of the first music videos with out live feed was also filmed the way I would like to film my music video (But mine would be all modernized and updated with effects and faster clips) the music video (Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues) is the one I am referring to, with this its shot in a street with a wide shot, with Bob holding loads of paper and as the song was being played the words on the paper would follow the lyrics, when you hit the end of the paper he drops that to the ground and behind was more lyrics to the song.

This is an interesting concept because once again it will make you read the letters more and watch the music video; even though the video drags on because of the way it was filmed it still makes you intrigued. I also felt you could learn the lyrics to song really easily as it shows you everything word for word, it’s a good way to sell a song I feel plus being one of the first music videos im sure it had a lot of promotion.

Styles,
Most of the styles you see now with words explaining the song or following it lyrically are fast or quick draw on clips, This makes the video seem more exiting and faster than the song actually is a good example for this is (Kanye West - All Of The Lights)  KanyeWestVEVO, 2011. Say's "WARNING: This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy"
This means that the video was so fast paced with flashing lights and quick cuts it has a  threat for epileptic suffers.

The video it self is linked to the chorus of the song and by this creates a good rhythm and develops its own unique style. This is something i may think about using in mine developing styles of flashing lights to grab my audience's attention, Or some form of affects to interest the audience

26th Sept Unit: Contextual Study’s Two Research

Life In A Day
I have been looking at certain styles, a great inspiration for vlogging would be the film recently made by Ridley Scott (Life In A Day) where he asked the audience to produce the film and send it to him where he and a team of editors places together the film about the whole day. The film was pieced to gather really well and it was interesting to see how the day was for every individual person but how it links to the whole production, Also watching this film and getting the information about how I will edit my work I can use techniques and manipulative wording to great the story better in my film.
Link below is the trailer and an interview about the film Life In A Day

Titles
Other things i have been looking into is how i am going to open and close my film, With opening and closing titles. When being on my summer i was experimenting with effect on my final cut when i decided to see what it would look like to place clips together quickly and fast changing. This was so see if you can get the appearance of a full day in 5 -1 5 seconds, with my practice i also placed a rewind sound. This will be like a flash back and then it can open up with the title (The Three Day Film) i also want to end the film with a coming up title, This so i can show the viewers what to expect.

Techniques
I have been looking into Techniques into how i can improve my Video logging style, There are certain web-sights that have helped me improve with my presentation skills with talking to the camera. I found this more interesting because i have taken a lot of tips and used them into my work. When yo see the final product you should be able to see how i have taken the advice on bored (The link Below is just one of the many i looked at)

My Experience
I have my own video logging style anyway because i have my own youtube account, With over 100 followers i have become quite confident in my presentation skills and because of my youtube channel this has helped me be more confident as to showing my life as a person.
