Understanding The Media Two, Research
Research,
For my music video I wanted to develop a fast pace style that connect to words in the song. I watched something similar in a song called (The All American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret) They used a style of giving people some paper and to write there own personal secrete, its filmed so you can only see the card and the persons face is blurred or out of shot. I like the concept of this because through out the music video you constantly watching the film trying to read other people secretes this could be just human nature to be nosy and to want to know other people little secrets, I found this to be very affective.
So if I use a similar style with words it would make people watch and concentrate on the film more so time should go faster and the video would end before they new it, this might draw my audience to watch it again and make it become more popular.
History,
One of the first music videos with out live feed was also filmed the way I would like to film my music video (But mine would be all modernized and updated with effects and faster clips) the music video (Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues) is the one I am referring to, with this its shot in a street with a wide shot, with Bob holding loads of paper and as the song was being played the words on the paper would follow the lyrics, when you hit the end of the paper he drops that to the ground and behind was more lyrics to the song.
This is an interesting concept because once again it will make you read the letters more and watch the music video; even though the video drags on because of the way it was filmed it still makes you intrigued. I also felt you could learn the lyrics to song really easily as it shows you everything word for word, it’s a good way to sell a song I feel plus being one of the first music videos im sure it had a lot of promotion.
Styles,Most of the styles you see now with words explaining the song or following it lyrically are fast or quick draw on clips, This makes the video seem more exiting and faster than the song actually is a good example for this is (Kanye West - All Of The Lights) KanyeWestVEVO, 2011. Say's "WARNING: This video has been identified by Epilepsy Action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy"
This means that the video was so fast paced with flashing lights and quick cuts it has a threat for epileptic suffers.
The video it self is linked to the chorus of the song and by this creates a good rhythm and develops its own unique style. This is something i may think about using in mine developing styles of flashing lights to grab my audience's attention, Or some form of affects to interest the audience
